Behind the scenes of a Jeeves Wedding: From first enquiry to last glass of fizz

Behind the scenes of a Jeeves Wedding: From first enquiry to last glass of fizz

9 Feb 2026

From the first email to the final plate cleared, there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes of a wedding. Understanding the process can help you feel calmer and more confident about your day, because you know exactly what to expect. Here’s how a typical journey with a full-service wedding caterer can look.

It usually begins with an enquiry sharing your date, venue (or shortlist), estimated guest numbers and a sense of the style you’re going for. You might have a very clear vision or just a few ideas – either is fine. At this stage you’ll often look at sample menus, talk about service options such as plated meals, sharing feasts or buffets, and flag any must-haves like specific dishes, cultural elements or dietary needs.

Next comes the tasting and detailed planning, which is where your wedding menu really starts to take shape. You’ll sample a selection of dishes – perhaps different options for starters, mains and desserts – and discuss how they might be adapted to suit your tastes, your guests and the season. This is also a good time to talk about wine, welcome drinks, canapés and evening food, so the whole day feels cohesive and well thought through.

Behind the scenes, your caterer will then begin the detailed logistics planning. They’ll liaise with your venue to confirm access times, kitchen facilities, power, water and hire items, and agree how service will work in the space. They’ll also plan staffing levels, equipment, delivery times and how everything fits around other suppliers like florists, photographers and entertainers.

On the day, the team arrives in good time to set up the kitchen area, lay tables if required and do any final checks with the venue. As guests arrive, welcome drinks are poured, canapés are served and the team quietly keeps an eye on timings, making sure everything runs smoothly around your ceremony, photos and speeches. The aim is for you to feel like everything is just “happening” flawlessly in the background.

During the wedding breakfast, plates go out in a coordinated way, dietary requirements are discreetly handled and staff check in with tables to make sure everyone has what they need. Once the main meal is complete, the team clears down, resets the space if necessary and prepares for evening food or snacks, ensuring there’s always something tempting available as the dancing starts.

At the end of the night, the team completes the clear-down according to the venue’s requirements, leaving the space as agreed. All of this is designed so that you barely notice the logistics; you simply feel that you and your guests have been looked after from start to finish.
