Privacy and Cookie Policy
Last updated: 20th August 2026
This policy explains how Jeeves Catering ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit www.jeevescatering.com or contact us about an event, and how we use cookies on the site.
We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

1. What personal data we collect
We collect personal data when you interact with our website or contact us directly, including:
Enquiry form details: first name, last name, email address, phone number, event type, event date, number of guests, and anything else you tell us about your event (for example venue details, menu preferences, or dietary and allergy requirements).
Correspondence: anything you send us by email or say to us by phone when discussing a booking.
Website usage data: collected automatically via Squarespace's built-in site analytics, including IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and how you arrived at the site. This data is generally aggregated and does not identify you by name.
A note on dietary and allergy information: some dietary requirements (for example religious or medical reasons) count as "special category data" under UK GDPR, which has extra protection. We only collect this because you’ve chosen to share it with us so we can cater safely for your event, and we only use it for that purpose.
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 through the website.
2. How we use your data
We use your personal data to:
Respond to your enquiry and provide a quote or proposal
Plan and deliver catering for your event, including managing dietary and allergy requirements
Keep records for accounting, tax and insurance purposes
Understand how visitors use our website, so we can improve it
Our legal basis for this:
Responding to enquiries and delivering a booked event: legitimate interests (before a contract exists) and performance of a contract (once you’ve booked with us)
Handling allergy and dietary information: your explicit consent, given when you provide it, used only to cater safely for you
Keeping financial records: legal obligation
Website analytics: consent, via the cookie banner (see Section 4), or legitimate interests where the analytics are limited to aggregated, non-identifying site statistics
We do not send marketing emails or newsletters, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
3. Who we share your data with
We may share your data with:
Staff and subcontracted catering or event staff who need it to deliver your event
Venues, where necessary to coordinate delivery, timings or access
Our website host and form provider, Squarespace, who also runs the site’s built-in analytics on our behalf
Our accountant, where needed for bookkeeping
Regulators or authorities, where we’re legally required to
Squarespace may store or process data outside the UK. Where this happens, it’s covered by standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard approved under UK data protection law.
4. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use the following types:
Essential cookies — set automatically by Squarespace, our website platform, to make the site work (for example remembering your session or letting you view password-protected pages). These can’t be switched off, as the site won’t function properly without them.
Analytics cookies — set by Squarespace’s own built-in site analytics, to help us understand how visitors use the site (for example which pages are popular). We don’t use Google Analytics or any third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, though blocking essential cookies may affect how the site works.
A note on consent: under UK law (PECR), cookies used purely for statistics, even the site owner’s own first-party analytics rather than a third-party tool like Google Analytics, technically still need visitor consent before they’re set, not just a policy describing them afterwards. In practice, the ICO’s stated enforcement priority is aimed at third-party advertising and tracking cookies rather than basic first-party stats, so the practical risk here is low. But if you want to be fully compliant rather than low-risk, a simple cookie banner would still be the correct approach, most Squarespace sites add one via a small code injection or a third-party consent tool.
5. How long we keep your data
Enquiry details for events that don’t go ahead: kept for up to 12 months, then deleted
Booking and event records: kept for 7 years, in line with standard accounting and tax requirements
Website analytics data: retained by Squarespace in line with their standard analytics data retention settings
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
Ask what personal data we hold about you
Ask us to correct inaccurate data
Ask us to delete your data, where there’s no legal reason for us to keep it
Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing
Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format
Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent (for example, dietary data or analytics cookies)
To exercise any of these rights, email info@jeevescatering.com or call 01778 349512.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
7. Keeping your data secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data, including using a reputable website host and limiting access to enquiry and booking details to those who need it to deliver your event.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using new tools on the website. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
