10 tips for choosing your Corporate Caterer

Choosing catering for a corporate event carries more risk than a personal one. Get it wrong and it reflects on your organisation, not just your afternoon. Here are ten things worth getting right, from the menu to the small print.

1. Range on the menu. Sandwich platters and salads for a training day, street food for a product launch, formal plated service for an awards dinner. A good corporate caterer should be equally comfortable across the scale, with a core menu that already covers the main dietary requirements without you having to ask.

2. Ingredient quality. Good food starts with good ingredients. At Jeeves, everything is prepared using fresh, carefully sourced produce, and we put as much thought into how a buffet looks as how it tastes: presentation matters when clients and colleagues are forming an impression of your business.

3. Reliability. A caterer who turns up late, or under-delivers on what was agreed, reflects on you. Check references and reviews before you book, not after something's gone wrong.

4. Adaptability. Corporate events don't always run to plan, and venues aren't always straightforward. We've catered everything from boardrooms to marquees, and can adapt at short notice when a brief changes.

5. Service standards. Good service turns a meal into part of the event, not an interruption to it. Look for a team that's attentive from the first enquiry through to the last plate cleared.

6. Budget flexibility. A good caterer works with your budget rather than around it. At Jeeves, we build menus that hit the mark on taste and presentation within whatever budget you've set, rather than pushing you towards a fixed package.

7. References and reviews. Ask for references from businesses who've booked similar events, and check independent reviews. Past clients will tell you more than any brochure will.

8. A proper tasting. Ask to taste the food before you commit, especially for a larger or higher-stakes event. It's the only way to know for certain what your guests will be served.

9. Food hygiene and safety. Ask about food hygiene ratings, allergen handling and staff training, and confirm the caterer holds proper liability insurance. This matters for any event, and especially for one your organisation's name is attached to.

10. Drinks. Consider whether alcohol suits the occasion. A curated drinks selection can lift a client dinner or evening celebration, while training days and daytime meetings are usually better served without.

Choosing the right caterer for your corporate event doesn't need to be complicated. Get the menu, the reliability and the paperwork right, and the rest tends to follow.
